“Howard grew up in Austin, attending LBJ High School and the Univ. of Texas/Austin. He earned a BA in English at the Univ. of Houston/Central Campus, then attended the University of the South/Sewanee earning a Master’s Degree in Theology/Divinity.  

Howard was co-founder and Exec. VP of GSL Industrial (now WelcomeGroup.com) where he oversaw project design and due diligence while also heading the construction division that built over 70 industrial/office buildings.  During his tenure the company amassed a private portfolio of over 3 MM square feet in the Houston area.  Some notable build-to-suit tenant clients included Gardner Denver, DalTile, Caprock Communications, Uson, Total Distributors, and PraxAir.  

He co-founded CBondSystems.com, a Houston-based nanotechnology company that developed and now manufactures a chemical process that enhances the strength and functionality of porous materials, most notably glass. Howard helped raise the initial venture capital and created research relationships with Rice University and The Univ. of Houston to obtain 22 patents that make existing glass products highly bullet resistant (NIJ Level II-A).  He also helped take the company public (ticker CBNT). 

He founded BluePearDesigns.com which built luxury custom homes in the Austin and Horseshoe Bay areas.

Prior to this, Howard was a photojournalist who interned at National Geographic, freelanced for Sports Illustrated and was on staff at The Dallas Morning News and The Houston Chronicle. He was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize four times and won several national and international awards. 

Howard has four adult children and two grandchildren, and lives in the Hill Country just west of Austin.
